Political Art / Don't Play With Fire (Vladimir Putin)

Nadia Khuzina, MFA

"I'm not going to put it any other way; I love Vladimir Putin.
I think the West doesn't understand his greatness or his raw ability as a leader. They only see the negative things in Russia and don't bother for even a second to see the positive.
Also count me a someone who found his "rape" sarcasm hilarious and on point. He is not afraid to call a spade a spade. How people in West could take offense to this shows how ignorant some people (especially in the media) really are...

Идиотизм года--"Русская полиция ведет бой с анти-Путинцами"--Russian police battle anti-Putin protesters

Репортажи Reuters остваляют желать много лучшего!_______________________________________________________

Commentary:
In reporting the events of this weekend in Russia today, Reuters refers to President Putin as the “former KGB spy”, while referring to the former community organizer, as “President Obama”.
Reuters reports that there were at least 20,000 participants while Russian authorities, with facts in hand, report about 8,000 demonstrators.
Interestingly, Reuters fails to report the meeting of about 30,000 Putin’s supporters celebrating the anniversary of the President Putin’s United Front, surely a simple oversight.
“The demonstrators were unhappy by the same faces will continue ruling the world's largest country and energy producer”. We can certainly sympathize with the notion that the same corrupt Congressmen ruling out country.
“Police struck out with batons and hit several protesters on the head as they pushed back a crowd of thousands which advanced towards them holding white metal crowd barriers and throwing objects, Reuters reporters at the rally said…” might as well be referring to Oakland police handling of  occupy movement.
President Putin, appropriately so, ignored the protests. He looked relaxed as he attended a religious ceremony led by Russian Orthodox Patriarch Krill that marked the transfer of a revered icon from a museum into the hands of the Church.
Such actions, that were never possible before, are the best testimonial for President Putin’s progressive political reforms!
The reporting by Reuters is less than admirable!

Russian police battle anti-Putin protesters

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian riot police beat protesters about the head with batons and detained more than 400 on Sunday after clashes broke out at a Moscow rally by thousands of people against Vladimir Putin on the eve of his return to the presidency.

Opposition leaders Alexei Navalny, Boris Nemtsov and Sergei Udaltsov were among those detained during violence that showed the depth of divisions and tensions in Russia as the former KGB spy starts his six-year third term on Monday.

Police struck out with batons and hit several protesters on the head as they pushed back a crowd of thousands which advanced towards them holding white metal crowd barriers and throwing objects, Reuters reporters at the rally said.

The demonstrators fought back with flagpoles but police formed a line with riot shields to prevent them moving towards a bridge leading across the Moscow river to the Kremlin.

Riot police waded into the crowd in small groups with arms locked, picking out people and hauling them away, then pushed forward in lines to hem protesters in and disperse them.

"Putin has shown his true face, how he 'loves' his people - with police force," said Dmitry Gorbunov, 35, a computer analyst and one of many middle-class protesters who have joined protests against Putin in the past five months.

The violence came at the end of a day of protests in several cities against Putin, who will be sworn in at a lavish ceremony inside the Kremlin at which the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, will bless him.

Many of the protesters are angry that Putin is extending his 12-year domination of Russia, despite being undermined by protests, and fear he will stifle political and economic reform in his third presidential term.

They are also frustrated that the same faces will continue ruling the world's largest country and energy producer, ignoring the biggest protests since Putin rose to power in 2000.

Four years after Putin ushered his ally Dmitry Medvedev into the Kremlin and became premier in 2008 because of constitutional term limits, the two have agreed to swap jobs, with Medvedev set to take Putin's position as prime minister.

"I trusted Putin as long as he ruled within the bounds of the constitution but our law limits the presidency to two consecutive terms. He and his clown Medvedev spat on that," said Andrey Asianov, a 44-year-old protester.

COFFIN OF DEMOCRACY

At least 20,000 people protested in Moscow under banners and flags, chanting "Russia without Putin" and "Putin - thief". Police said Udaltsov, Nemtsov and Navalny had been detained for "incitement to mass disorder".

Udaltsov, a leftist leader, was taken away as he tried to address the crowd from a stage and Navalny, an anti-corruption blogger, was dragged off after trying to organize a sit-in protest calling for Putin's inauguration to be scrapped.

In other protests, demonstrators carried a black coffin bearing the word "democracy" through the Pacific port city of Vladivostok. Several people were detained there and at protests in the Urals city of Kurgan and Kemerovo in western Siberia.

The Moscow protest was marred by the death of a photographer who Itar-Tass news said fell from a balcony as he tried to take pictures of the rally.

Health authorities said 20 police and 17 protesters sought medical help, including three police and 11 protesters who were hospitalized, Interfax reported. Most were later released.

The clashes were the worst since police moved in to disperse hundreds of protesters at or after rallies the day after Putin's March 4 election victory, which the opposition said was achieved with the aid of electoral fraud.

But the sting has gone out of protests since Putin, 59, won the election with almost 64 percent of the vote.

The former KGB spy simply ignored the protests. He looked relaxed as he attended a religious ceremony led by Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill that marked the transfer of a revered icon from a museum into the hands of the Church.

A few thousand Putin supporters attended a separate rally in Moscow that was intended to show he enjoys more support than the opposition, witnesses said.

"Democracy is the power of the majority. Russia is everything, the rest is nothing!" Alexander Dugin, a Kremlin-aligned nationalist, told the pro-Putin crowd.

Putin has dismissed allegations that widespread fraud helped him win the presidential election and secured victory for his United Russia party in a parliamentary poll in December, but the opposition says he was illegitimately elected.

Medvedev has pushed only limited political reforms through parliament following the protests, which at their height attracted tens of thousands of people in Moscow and St Petersburg but did not spread outside big cities.

The demonstrations have deprived Putin of his aura of invincibility, and opposition candidates have been trying to get a foothold on power in municipal elections, but the size of the protests on Sunday was unlikely to trouble the president-elect.

Even so, protesters said Sunday's rallies were another signal to Putin that Russia had changed as he returns to the Kremlin after four years absence, even if change was coming slowly two decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Such protests were unthinkable until December, when anger over the electoral fraud allegations spilled over.

"Civil society is taking shaping little by little. People will concentrate more on local problems and change things from the bottom up. It's clear we aren't going to march on the Kremlin," said Maria Golinchuk, 25, a kindergarten teacher.

President-elect Putin protects and preserves Russia's national heritage.

During a scheduled meeting of the Russian government today, President-elect Putin announced his intent to increase funding for museums in Russia.

Funds will be directed towards repairs, upgrades and reconstruction of almost 9000 building displaying and storing museums unique collections.

Also, these directed funds will be spent on actual restoration and further preservation of museum inventory.

At the time when the rest of Europe is barely avoiding financial collapse, President-elect Putin, in an unprecedented move, is planning to increase the current annual expenditure by four fold, preserving Russia’s national heritage for future generations!

President Putin might allow a NATO base in Russia.

US Government awaits a successful completion of negotiations with the Russian Ministry of Defense concerning creation in Ul'yanovsk, Rusia of a major transportation and logistics base for NATO.

The base will be engaged in the multi-modal back-haul of loads from Afghanistan which will combine air and surface transfer of loads from Afghanistan to Russia, bypassing Uzbekistan.

Russia will than form railway trains to dispatch loads to NATO countries.

Who is the dictator now?

While accusing President-elect Putin of "dictatorship" in Russia, an arrogant and hostile President Obama publicly challenges the US Supreme Court authority!?

A former constitutional law professor is obviously losing faith in the Constitution of the United States, seperation of powers and role of the Judiciary!?

Maybe President Obama could be better off in charge of Russia?

Maybe we are ready for President swap and should have President Putin come to US and make sure everyone pays their fair share of taxes?

President Putin at least will respect the integrity and independence of the Supreme Court!

Putin brings real democracy to Russia.

In a recently published article in Passport Magazine ,Mr. Jon Hellevig, a lawyer from Finland who has worked and lived in Russia since the beginning of 1990’s, defends President-elect Putin.
He compares Western Democracy development over a couple of centuries to Democracy in Russia that only came into beingwhen President Yeltsin inherited a “criminal anarchy”.

President Putin's crowning achievement during his two terms as President of Russia was the development of real democratic institutions, does need a defense. He needs admiration and support!

In his recent election campaign, Putin promissed a number of far-reaching liberal changes to the economic laws and laws governing the political system.

“Putin has already announced significant liberalization of the election laws... We will probably never see a similar liberalization of corresponding US laws, a country where two parties share an eternal monopoly to power”.

The most significant liberalization of the election laws, among them the proposition to further lower the threshold for registering parties with nationwide status.

Accordingly, President Medvedev today, April 3,2012, signed into law the very same proposal of then-candidate Putin.

Immediately thereafter the mass media announced the formation of Gay & Lesbian Political Party—how is that for Russian Democracy!?

The joke is on President Obama

Speaking to a group of Associated Press Editors about 10 minutes ago today, President Obama invited journalists to "record every word and to report it to Vladimir" referring to President-elect Putin.

However, the joke is on President Obama as he is yet to explain his recent comments regarding his "flexibility" on missile defense in Europe during his "next term" ?

President-Elect Putin to form National Guard ?

Today Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary for President-elect Putin refuted rumors that a new power structure - National Guard can be created in Russia reporting only to the President.

However, reliable sources site President Putin’s recent meetings with key Generals, specifically with the Commander of the Airborne Forces, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Shamanov, and with the Commander of Interior Forces Army General Nick Rogozhkin rumored to be put in command of the newly formed  Russian National Guard.

National Guard of the US States established with the Militia Act of 1903 under Title 10 and Title 32 of the  U.S. Code, serves as part of the first-line defense for the United States.

Taking a page from an American playbook, this long overdue Russian National Guard will serve the Office of the President to protect and enforce Russian Constitution, and to provide day-to-today political, economic and social stability.

Initially formed from Ministry of the Interior troops, and other existing power structures, including Military Police, it will number between 350,000 to 400,000 troops--mainly (up to 80% ) these will be volunteer contractors.

U.S. Ambassador to Moscow feels "violated"

U.S. Ambassador Michael McFaul says Russian reporters listened in and read his emails. The State Department has complained about harassment to the ambassador.
Michael McFaul, the U.S. ambassador to Russia, has accused Russian journalists of listening to his phone conversations and reading his email.

When the new U.S. ambassador to Russia arrived this week for a private meeting with a prominent human rights activist, he was confronted by a crew from an alleged Kremlin-controlled television station that blocked his path and peppered him with questions.

Despite absence of proof to support his accusations, the new U.S. ambassador to Russia verbally lashed out at NTV journalists accusing them of spying by listening in and reading his emails ?

While scheduling leaks usually come from lowest level embassy employees, Ambassador accused the journalist of violating the Geneva Convention!?

Comrade Zuganov 2 B re-branded!

Mr. Gennady Zyuganov is the current leader of the Russian Communist Party.

After an extremely poor showing in the recent presidential elections, his fourth, many former supporters are about to launch their own political parties as a direct result of significant liberalization of system of political parties introduced by the President of Russia.

Interestingly, Russian Communist Party is using the word "re-branding" to describe their political goals.

Mr. Zyuganov will neither confirm nor deny that he is planning to run again in 2018.

New Governor-2-B for Moscow County

Gen. Sergei Shoigu, current Minister of Emergency Situations,  of Russian Federation is an unexpected candidate for the position of the Governor of Moscow County.

A long-time friend and supporter of President-elect Putin he is practically a shoe-in for the position.

We gripe you decide.

President-Elect V.V. Putin wins a legitimate and super-transparent election.

In the recent face-to face meeting with the current Russian President Dimitry Medvedev, the presumptuous and self-assured President Obama assured President Medvedev that he will win the re-election, and promised more “flexibility” during his “next term”.

While democracy is flourishing in Russia as evidenced by the recent transparent election of V.V. Putin, the results of the election campaign in US seem to be predetermined!?

By more flexibility, Is President Obama referring to his anticipated response to concerns from the Russian President over missile defense!?
